I believe in the United States of America, as a government of the people, by the people, for the people; whose just powers are derived from the consent of the governed; a democracy in a republic, a sovereign nation of many sovereign states; a perfect union, one and inseparable; established upon those principles of freedom, equality, justice and humanity for which American patriots sacrificed their lives and fortunes.
I therefore believe it is my duty to my country to love it, to support its
constitution, to obey its laws, to respect its flag, and to defend it against all enemies.

DETROIT CHAPTER #1
Throughout America's short history, millions have lived and died to bring honor and glory to this great continent that stretches "from sea to shining sea." From the first battles of freedom fought at Lexington and Concord, to the farmers in the Midwest harvesting grain, to the corporate world debating in the offices of New York City, Americans live and work to keep their country free, alive and proud. These citizens of the United States and their morals, ideals and beliefs were the reasons that the United States was the first to start the great revolutionary movement of the twentieth century, the reason that the United States welcomed millions to its shores and embraced them, the reason why everyone who lives and works here is equal, and the reason that the American's Creed was written.
The American's Creed holds true to the ideals of the first Americans, present Americans and future Americans forever. The American's Creed combines the most important and vital ideals of the United States people in a way that motivates and empowers every American citizen to be all that they can be and to inspire others to do the same.
Within every warm blooded American citizen lies an intense burning passion that their duties as a citizen are "...to love it (the country); to support its constitution; to obey its laws; to respect its flag; and to defend it against all enemies." Before the Creed was even written, this passion has moved Americans such as Francis Scott Key to create a lasting piece of art known as the "Star Spangled Banner." The same passion even inspired contemporary designers Michael Arad, who is an Israeli native, and Peter Walker to create a lasting memorial to the victims of the September 11th 2001 tragedy that represents the spirit of an American. As an American citizen, I too feel the passion within me to love, support, defend and obey my country. This passion has inspired me to study law, which is the very backbone of our country.
The American's Creed is a small piece of literature, which represents the tremendous pride, joy, and responsibility that is encoded into every American. The ideals, morals and duties outlined within the Creed have always been in the American society and its people and always will be.
